University of
Nebraska-Lincoln
to host the
7th International Symposium on Beef Cattle Welfare in 2026

The International Symposium on Beef Cattle Welfare was conceived and developed by a team of cooperating U.S. and Canadian animal scientists and veterinarians and has become a biennial rotating event with a U.S. or Canadian partner as its host. Symposia have been hosted by Kansas State University (2008, 2010), University of Saskatchewan (2012), Iowa State University (2014), University of Calgary (2018), and Michigan State University (virtually in 2020 and 2022), and 2026 marks the first time the symposium will convene in person since 2018!

COMING in 2026

As you all are certainly aware, grant funding from federal sources is uncertain and funding for this symposium is affected. We are aware of heightened concerns with international travel, and we recognize this challenge for our international community. The combination of funding uncertainty and international travel concerns along with a quickly shrinking time horizon has prompted the decision to postpone. We want to emphasize that this decision has not been made lightly. We look forward to an even more successful event in 2026. Please check back for updates. ~ The Steering Committee
